L'EJE at Zero CO2

The European Jazz Expo Zero CO2

Sardinia Jazz will balance out greenhouse gas emissions resulting from energy consumption, transports and materials related to the implementation of the European Jazz Expo that wil take place from May 27 to May 29 2011. The emissions are expected to amount approximately to 29 tonnes of CO2 that will be blanced out by the purchase of 29 credits from an italian forestry project.

Emission measurements

AzzeroCO2 carries out a detailed analysis of the emissions resulting from the implementation of an event, the vital cycle of a product, a service provision or other activities. The calculation parameters are defined on the basis of studies supported by the scientific community and implemented by international organizations (World Resources Institute, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, International Panel on Climate Change).

CO2 emissions compensation

CO2 emissions resulting from the different activities are balanced out by purchasing credits on the voluntary compensations market. These credits, as part of Forest plans and Renewable sources development plans, are recorded in a proper register and issued as a consequence of the absorption of CO2 by trees or the production of sustainable energy to prevent CO2 production, respectively. Each tonne of CO2 absorbed or prevented grants one credit.

Certifications

The credits granted are VER type (Verified Emissions Reductions), i.e. credits verified by a qualified certifying authority pursuant to the Kyoto Protocol and the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) provisions.
